Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
This policy explains what information Akonoba Foundation, Inc. ("Akonoba Foundation", "we", "us") collects through akonobafoundation.org, why we collect it, and how it is handled. It applies to this website and the forms on it — it does not cover information collected outside this site.
Information you provide to us
We collect information you choose to give us when you use a form on this site:
- Contact form — your name, email address and message.
- Volunteer application — your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, area of interest and a message.
- Partner inquiry — your organization name, contact name, email address and message.
- Newsletter sign-up — your email address.
- Donation — if you choose to give, you are taken to Stripe's own secure checkout page. Your payment details are entered there, not on this site. We receive back only your name, email address, the amount given and Stripe's transaction reference — never your card number or bank details, which we never see or store.
How we use this information
We use the information above to respond to your message or application, process and receipt your donation, send newsletter updates you've asked to receive, and keep an internal record of volunteers, partners and supporters so the Foundation can follow up appropriately. We do not sell, rent or trade your information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Who we share information with
Some information is necessarily shared with the service providers that make this site work. We choose providers with strong security practices, and each only receives what it needs to perform its function:
- Stripe processes donations and holds your payment details under its own privacy and security standards.
- Google Firebase (Firestore and related infrastructure) stores form submissions, donation records and newsletter subscriptions on our behalf.
- Resend delivers newsletter emails, once configured, and holds subscriber email addresses for that purpose.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and does not track visitors across other websites. The only cookie in use is a secure, staff-only sign-in cookie for the administration dashboard at /admin — it is never set for visitors browsing the public site. A small amount of information may be stored in your own browser's local storage purely to remember that you dismissed the "install this site" prompt; nothing personal is stored there, and it never leaves your device.
How long we keep information
We retain form submissions, donation records and newsletter subscriptions for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes described above, to maintain accurate financial and organizational records, and to meet any legal or accounting obligations that apply to a registered nonprofit.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails at any time using the link in those emails, or by contacting us. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by reaching out through our contact page. We will respond to reasonable requests as promptly as we can.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or our practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Questions about this policy, or requests about your information, can be sent through our contact page.
